Remodeling a room or building a new space takes a lot of time, energy, and thought. Technology will never replace the creative process of design, but fortunately it can make it a whole lot easier. We’ve rounded up three of our favorite iPhone apps for architects and designers, whether you’ve misplaced your surface level or are trying to communicate a color scheme to clients.
#1. RoomScan (Free) – Need the dimensions of a room, but there’s no tape measure in sight? Simply touch each wall with your phone and the app will draw up a surprisingly accurate floor plan within minutes.

#2. iHandy Carpenter ($1.99) – This 5-in-1 carpenter tool kit offers a plumb bob, a surface level, a bubble level, a steel protractor and a steel ruler in one very reasonably-priced, very helpful app.

#3. myPantone ($9.99) – This app captures and extracts colors from photos, matching them to the closest Pantone color and automatically creating complementary color combinations. It also allows the user to cross reference Pantone color libraries and share your desired palettes.
